Fuel Injector Shortage Leaves Consumers with Decisions

Are you having a hard time finding fuel injectors for your 2006 – 2007 GM Duramax LBZ?  You’re not the only one.  There is currently a shortage for new Bosch injectors; finding them is getting harder and harder.

Dodge Cummins Diesel Forum has been blowing up with inquiries as to where to find Bosch injectors.  One blogger even reports being on a 4 week waiting list to receive a new injector, asking if it’s the ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) causing the shortage.

As for solutions to this Bosch fuel injector shortage problem?

One option is to hire an expert to custom rebuild your current injectors.  Due to this option, Diesel drivers are finding a decent amount of remanufactured injectors, and an even greater amount of companies who are attempting to do the work.  Can the remanufactured injectors compare to a new Bosch injector?  Is it worth the risk?

The key is finding a competent diesel company that you can trust.  Some diesel fans are discovering that the “new” fuel injector they purchased is actually remanufactured, due to that company’s struggle to put out new Boschs.

When choosing the company to work on rebuilding your current injector, ask a lot of questions.  Search diesel forums to find out more about each company, and what other customers are saying.  Note whether a company is upfront about remanufactured injectors, or if they’re telling you the Bosch is new when it’s now.  See what benefits you’ll get from each company, like warranties and shipping costs and times (if you need an injector now, be sure to chose a company with Next Day Air).

In the end, it’s all about getting the most for your money when you purchase a new or rebuilt Bosch injector.  Good luck!

  1. I found 6 Bosch fuel injectors in a storage unit I bought. I think they are diesel injectors. Is there any way to tell what engine they would go to by the numbers on the injector? I typed everything on them in and Googled it, but it would not bring up a specific application.

    Thanks,

    1. Thank you for your request, our Techs believe that the injectors that you found were from an older John Deere tractor. Good luck. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
